You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time? 57 “Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right? 58 As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled to him on the way, or he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison. 59 I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.”

  4. Luke 13:2 • "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way"... 3 I tell you no!... 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no!”...

  6. Luke 13:3, 5 • "I tell you no!"

  7. Luke 13:3, 5 • "But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

  8. Human tragedy could result in physical death and separation from the body. • Spiritual tragedy results in spiritual death and separation from the creator.

  9. Matthew 14:14 • When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

  10. Matthew 15:32 • Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.”

  11. Matthew 20:34 • Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

  12. Mark 6:34 • When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

  13. Compassion - Splak-needs-a-ma • the root word means "down in the bowls or down deep with in us." • to be moved as to one's bowels, hence to be moved with compassion, have compassion (for the bowels were thought to be the seat of love and pity)
