  2. Advertising plays a very large part in determining what products we buy and consume. There are numerous methods of advertising that companies use on a daily basis to try to convince consumers to buy their products. Advertising can be found on the radio, television, and in print. Advertising Group Project (100 pts.)

Informative Competitive • Informative advertising provides useful information about a product • some companies use false advertising to lure you in (bait and switch); illegal • Competitive advertising is when companies try to take customers away from other companies or keep customers they already have Types of Advertising

  4. Emotional Transfer • Sex • Fear • Symbols • Humor • Hype • Fitting In • Cute • Vague Promises • Testimonials • Famous People • It’s Easy • Macho • Feminine • Repetition • Big Lies • Ordinary People How do advertisers sell products?

  5. First… Requirements: • In groups no larger than 4 people, create a unique product that you would like to sell. (You may also work alone.) • Groups will then create a radio, television, or print advertisement. • Each product must have an original logo design. • Each product must have a jingle or slogan. • Each product must have an original advertisement created by your group. These can be a television commercial, print advertisement, or radio spot. • Each project must have a written reflection answering the questions on the following page. Project Directions

What type of advertisement is it (informative, competitive, etc.)? • Who is your target audience? • Where would you advertise your product and why? • Where would you sell your product? • How did you come up with the design? • What advertising techniques did you use? • What did you learn from doing this project? Written Reflection (Guiding Questions)

  7. Time Frame Daily Overview • We will start the project on Wednesday, 5/21/14. • I will give you 4 class periods to finish the project. • This will count as a test grade. Have fun with it, but take it seriously! • Day 1- Decide on product & begin logo design • Day 2- Finish logo design & start work on a slogan/ jingle. • Days 3 & 4- Work on the advertisement & written reflection. Project Time Frame & Guidelines

Hints… Expectations: • Break the responsibilities up amongst group members. • This is a test score, so put forth your best effort. • Be as creative as possible. • Have fun with this! • Each member of the group contributes. • Advertisements are creative & fun. • All components of the project are completed. • Time is not wasted.
