BFFF • BFFF is the Trade Association for the UK frozen food industry • Representing the Interests of 320 members: • Food Manufacturers • Importers • Retailers • UK frozen food market worth £7.85 billion • Over 60% of BFFF Members are SME Businesses • First to form PA Co-ordinated Partnerships • Business Expert Groups. • Wholesalers • Cold Storage/Logistics Providers • Associate Members

  7. Why Fire Safety? • Members feedback from our Fire Safety survey: • Resounding results from members of all sizes • Businesses require a competent and dedicated Fire Safety advisor - lack of internal knowledge • Inconsistency of advice and approach from Fire Services.

  8. Our aim in relation to Fire Safety is: • Provide consistent advice from a competent source • Improve safety and compliance within the industry • Facilitate an open forum between the industry and the regulators. 4

  9. Our new approach to Primary Authority • Direct partnerships administered through BFFF • Ensure we provide the service for all members of all sizes • Facilitate bespoke advice for all companies • Capture industry guidance themes. 4

Future challenges and opportunities • Earned recognition- ensuring this is embedded within our Primary Authority scheme • Official Controls Regulations 882/2004 • Streamlining the process for industry guidance and involvement with National Regulators • Mechanisms to ensure consistency • between Local Authorities and other Regulators. 4
