    4. How did we start? Background of staff position Staff survey (electronic) Decided what was reasonable Developed partnerships

    5. Coordinated School Health 2 schools participated Partnership with DeKalb Board of Health Local schools took ownership Worked with local partners, including Health M Powers, Oakhurst Medical, and local wellness organizations

    6. Staff Wellness Activities at CSH sites Staff walking programs Stress management workshops Staff health risk appraisals Staff mini-massage (5 minute chair)

Regional Wellness Councils DCSS divided into 6 regions (added 7th for all non-school based employees) Each region has a facilitator Each school has a local representative who attends meetings and provides input on activities Activities for each region were based on outcomes from School Health Index

    8. Staff Wellness Activities for Regional Wellness Councils Turkey Trot (at Stone Mountain Park) Jingle Bell Run (at local school) Health Fairs 6-weeks to Wellness Monthly topic talks Group exercise classes

    9. Staff Wellness Center Funded though grant from Kaiser Permanente Central Location Shared location Open during non-school hours Diverse offerings

    10. What is offered at the Staff Wellness Center? Weight room Cybex equipment Cardio room treadmills, ellipticals, bikes basketball court (group exercise classes are held on basketball court) Group exercise classes

    11. How many people actually attend the Wellness Center? Opened December 1, 2009. Hours of Operation 3:30 8:00 pm (M-F) Currently over 600 unique users Average 70 100 participants per night 2 group exercise classes per night 4:30 and 5:45 Zumba, Jazzercise, Step, Low impact, Kick Boxing, Core, Yoga Group classes average 25 35 participants

    12. Other Staff Wellness Activities Yearly 5K event with PTA Councils Local school runs Freedom from Smoking offered Asthma 101 Stress Management Workshops American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid trainings
