Una leggenda dice che in tempi remoti una principessa fu lasciata, dal suo sposo partito in guerra, a guardia di un immenso tesoro; quando arrivarono i nemici la principessa si rifiutò di rivelare il nascondiglio di tale tesoro e fu per questo uccisa; dal suo sangue nacque la pianta del cacao, i cui semi sono così amari come la sofferenza, ma allo stesso tempo forti ed eccitanti come le virtù di quella ragazza.
