The main specific characteristics and importance in • statistical system of the Republic of Azerbaijan • Centralized country-wide system • Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Official Statistics”, “On reception of the information” and “Statute on the SSCAZ” adopted by the Milli Mejlis in 2005 • State Programme on the development of the Official Statistics in Azerbaijan for the period of 2003-2007 confirmed by the Decree of Republic’s President

About the SSCAZ The SSCAZ is composed of the Central Office (174 employees), the Main Computing Center (246 employees), Research Design and Technology Centre of statistical information (26 employees) and 83 regional statistical offices (1 018 employees) of which 10 regional statistical offices are located occupied territory by armed forces of Republic of Armenia. For the time being the Main Computing Centre is responsible for data collection, processing, checking and data transfer from the regional offices to the headquarters as well as software development.

Interrelation with users • The fundamental principles guiding the state statistics of Azerbaijan in the process of preparing and disseminating statistical data are described as follows: • assure confidentiality of the data received from respondents • study customer demand and determine of the necessary output of data • prepare high-quality data • specify the scientific approach used in preparing information • satisfy needs (interests) of users relating to size and character of supplied information • assist in access of users to data sources • strive for timeliness and accuracy of information
