New Approach Standardization 1985 • Development of the Single Market - Free movement of goods between Member States • Legislative harmonization is limited to essential requirements • Construction products put on the market must meet the essential requirements according to CPD 1989 H.   3. New Approach Standardization (cont) • CEN is given mandates by European Commission (EC) to elaborate harmonized European product standards • Annex ZA gives the basis for CE marking • Harmonized product standards are listed in the Official Journal of the European Union H. Broms 2006-09-29

  26. Appeal mechanism • A member may appeal within 2 months against any action or inaction of a TC, if considered not in accordance with - CEN Internal Regulations - aims of CEN - public concerns as safety and health. • Technical Board (BT) decides H. Broms 2006-09-29
