  1. Introduction to Spouse visa, Canada Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has clearly defined the qualification parameters to apply for a spouse visa. In its words, a spouse is "companion, mate, better-half or common-law partner (or ward of your kids)’’. Canada also supports live-in partner and recognises same-sex marriages so if your spouse/ partner rests under these qualification, then you are totally eligible to call him/her in the country. What is a Spouse Visa? Spousal Visa is a family reunification visa type where you can call your spouse to live with you if you are a: permanent residence of Canada citizen of Canada

  2. Qualification criteria to sponsor your spouse to Canada: To invite your spouse/partner the to Canada, the candidate needs to demonstrate the real connection in the relationship. This can be done in a number of ways that support your claim such as: Proof of being hitched or living together as unmarried couples for past one year Marriage certification (in case married) or series of photographs, screenshots suggesting the feeling of love and affection towards each other (in case of un- married relationship) Other than this, the spouse living in Canada (sponsor) need to showcase that he/she has: Valid residency Enough finances 18 years old Medically fit No obligation towards Canadian government No conviction of any crime committed in Canada

  3. Other perquisites: The sponsor has to be a Canadian resident, enlisted in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or a Permanent residence of the country The sponsored spouse must show the real intention to live in Canada with his/her spouse The couple must accommodate the essential needs of each other and be supportive in the relationship Legal repercussions of misusing spouse visa: As of April 28, 2017, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have evacuated Conditional Permanent Residence for sponsored spouses of Canadian residents. The rule required a supported companion or mate to live with their spouse (who has sponsored them) for a long time. The IRCC will keep a vigilant check on the couple to make sure that the marriage is real and genuine. In case the authorities become aware that you have misrepresentation your relationship status just for the sake of migration, then you may be deported back and a blanket ban on you entry inside Canadian territories will be initiated on immediate basis.
