  1. What are the Seatrade Awards? The Seatrade Awards have established themselves as the premier maritime awards scheme worldwide, and is often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the international shipping industry. The scheme rewards innovative solutions for safe, efficient and environmentally friendly shipping, in keeping with the goals and objectives of the International Maritime Organization. From small research companies through to large corporations across the world, the Seatrade Awards attract interest from all sectors of the maritime industry.

  3. 2011 Panel of Judges • The panel of judges is chaired by Radm Efthimios Mitropoulos, Secretary-General, International Maritime Organization (IMO). The panel of judges is comprised from the: • Advisory Committee on Protection of the Sea (ACOPS) • Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) • European Cruise Council (ECC) • Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA) • International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) • International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners (INTERCARGO) • International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO) • International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) • International Shipping Federation (ISF) • Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF)

  4. Safety at Sea Award sponsored by Lloyd’s Register Significant technical or procedural improvements leading to reduction of risk to human life at sea. Clean Shipping Award sponsored by ABS The introduction of new, or significant improvements of existing technology which will support the objective of Clean Shipping. Innovation in Ship Operations An innovative project which has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of any aspect of ship operations and/or cargo handling. Entries will be judged on originality and imagination combined with the perceived practicality of the idea.   5. Lifetime Achievement Award 2011* This award is to honour an individual who has made a significant and lasting contribution to shipping and the maritime industry. Seatrade Personality 2011* Awarded to an individual who has made a major contribution to the shipping industry in any field. Young Person in Shipping 2011* Presented to an individual under 40 who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry. Global Performer 2011* Awarded to a company or organisation that has made a major contribution to the shipping industry in any field. Seatrade Special Award for Countering Piracy Seatrade will be presenting a special award to recognise an individual or organisation that has made a significant contribution to the fight against piracy. *Nominations for these awards are invited from the international business community and the winners chosen by Seatrade.
