  3. Hello! English teacher Michal Shachar Social coordinator Site coordinator Mother of 4 (the oldest one is 38)

  4. The ISRAELI site • Our project is different and unique. • It is done during the day- on school hours. • The students in Israel join the army , the IDF (Israeli Defence Force) at the end of high school (only afterwards will they continue to complete a higher education)

  5. A class of 37 students who in addition to their school schedule recieve: • Extra English and Math hours (in small groups) • Academic tours • Trips • Workshops • IDF preparation (The class has a homeroom teacher)

  6. Once a week, on Wednesday afternoons from 15:30 until 17:30 the students have study hours (Math/ English) with volunteers from Biosense Webster (J&J) at the company offices.

  10. Using . I’m there for them 24/7. • The class is involved in almost every activity I’m in charge of (as a social coordinator) 10

  11. Saying Thank You A special day in which the BTE students honored the elderly community in Yoqneam in collaboration with the LATET organization. The students prepared activities, sang with the elderly and brightened up their day.

  12. Making the world a better place The BTE students handed out cakes prepared by Biosense employees to elderly citizens. the students went door to door and delighted the elderly community, showering them with love and happiness.

  13. All communication with partners, students, parents, educators and the broader community is done through : emails and cell phones

  15. Challenges • Maintaining student motivation in especially in their final year of school ( final exams and army placements). • Recruiting staff in order to create an interesting and meaningful program. • Thinking out of the boxevery year

  16. Achievements • An increase in students’ motivation through the years • Participation and involvement in community issues • Daily brainstorming on how to help out the community in order to become a meaningful member.

Contributions of the program (Based on the students reports during the focus groups) The program contributed the student in different ways Socially - strong solidarity feelings in the class Academics – better academic achievements Future scope and motivation Personally/Emotionally – the students became more social, more open to others and to the future

  19. In the near future • Our students will complete their high school education in the best manner possible • Our students will be integrated into meaningful positions in the IDF in the field of medicine: medical officers, paramedics and military medics
