  2. ChangeIP Tool • In General you would want to set the IP address of the host machine that will be running ALSMS prior to installing ALSMS Software. • If you have forgotten to do this or if you just need to change the address you would use the ChangeIP tool to change the ALSMS IP address in the ALSMS database. • This Configuration Example will show you how to do this on a standalone, Windows based ALSMS server. The process is slightly different on a Solaris machine or if you are using redundant servers. See the Administration guide for more detail in those situations.

  3. ChangeIP Tool (Notes) • If you had already created Bricks, you would need to connect to each Brick and change the address in the ALSMS IP Address field prior to changing the address in the ALSMS server. • If you are running on a Solaris server or have redundant ALSMS servers, see Appendix C in the ALSMS Administration guide.

  4. ChangeIP Tool • Log into the ALSMS Navigator (must be directly on the ALSMS server). • Click on “Host Groups” from the menu. • Double Click on the ALSMS host group. • Add the IP Address that you will be changing to into the Host group. • See detail on next slide.

  5. ChangeIP Tool

  6. ChangeIP Tool • Select File>Save and Close. • Note: If you have already created “groups” in addition to the “System” group you will need to make this change to each group before proceeding. • Select Start>Programs>Lucent Security Management Server>Stop Services. • You are now ready to change the IP address of the windows machine.

  7. ChangeIP Tool • Select Start>Control Panel. • Select Network Connections. • Select Local Area Connection. • Select Properties. • Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). • Select Use the following IP address. • Fill in your IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.

  8. ChangeIP Tool • Once this is filled out with the IP information that you want click OK. • You are now ready to use the ChangeIP tool to change the IP Address in the ALSMS Database.

  9. ChangeIP Tool • Open a “command” window on the host machine. • Start>Run>CMD • At the Dos prompt type cd\users\isms\lmf to change to the ALSMS database directory. • At the next prompt type local\bin\changeIP x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is the address that you want to change the ALSMS server to.

  10. ChangeIP Tool • You will see the changes being made on the screen.

  11. ChangeIP Tool • You are now ready to restart your ALSMS Services. • Start>Programs>Lucent Security Management Server>Start Services.

  12. Change IP Tool • For more detailed information on configuring this feature click Help>On Line Product Manuals>Administration Guide • See the section on Changing the IP Address of the ALSMS. • The Product Manuals can also be found on your ALSMS CD.
