Estuary english. It is encountrered throughout the south of and the south-east of England. Stablished by David Rosewarne in 1984. It is considered a dialect inside the London dialect.

  1. Estuary english It is encountrered throughout the south of and the south-east of England. Stablished by David Rosewarne in 1984. It is considered a dialect inside the London dialect. An accent very common among younger people in the countries of Essex and Kent .(Specially among the river Thames)

  2. ESTUARY ENGLISH MOCKNEY( IN THE MIDDLE BETWEEN COCKNEY AND RP) It consist on some variants in phonetics clauses that are founded in the working class

  3. characteristics It was spread to the south of a England due to some Londoners migrated in the Second World War. Basildon,Harlow , Slough and Milton Keynes. Very common to use it in the radio Convergence and accommodation with other accents like RP.

  4. Phonetics changes Milk- miwk / cathedral – cathedwaw. Vulnerable – vunnerable Technical Lovely-lovelee Prominence to prepositions and auxiliary verbs

  5. Phonetic features similar to cockney Use of intrusive r Yod coalescence (tuesday) Broad a (bath) H dropping Wholly-holly split (goat split)

  7. quotation No accent is intrinsically good or bad, but it has to be recognized that the way we perceive accents does play a role in our attitude to others. Different people have differing perceptions. So there are significant numbers of young people who see Estuary English as modern, up-front, high on 'street cred' and ideal for image-conscious trendsetters. Others regard it as projecting an approachable, informal and flexible image. Whereas RP, Queen's English, Oxford English and Sloane Ranger English are all increasingly perceived as exclusive and formal. —Paul Coggle, 1993
