Between January 1998 and May 1999, Marcela Kane worked as a lawyer and in the legal department of the corporate division of the National Tax and Customs Administration of Colombia. She was responsible for presiding over administrative hearings to determine the tax liability of litigants in Colombia. She collaborated with other lawyers in the department and reported to the leader of the Legal Division.
