  5. Forecasting • Prediction of labor needs relative to the market • Same as any market: supply and demand • What factors are likely to affect an organization’s needs for labor? • What factors are going to affect supply?

  6. Labor shortage vs. surplus • How do organizations address these situations? • Need to consider • Speed of solution • Congruence with strategy • Affect on employees • Long term ramifications

  7. Alternative models of obtaining labor • Part time employees • Seasonal employees • Consultants • Contractors • Issues with outsourcing • What is the purpose? • Is it always appropriate?
