Separating infrared-luminous galaxy SEDs into starburst and AGN components

Lee, Jong Chul. Separating infrared-luminous galaxy SEDs into starburst and AGN components. ▪ Sample : ~30,000 WISE-detected SDSS galaxies, 9 photometric data points & redshift ▪ Analysis : SED decomposition using 4 templates , L(0.03-30 μ m) = L AGN + L E + L Sbc + L Im.

  1. Lee, JongChul Separating infrared-luminous galaxy SEDs into starburst and AGN components ▪ Sample : ~30,000 WISE-detected SDSS galaxies, 9 photometric data points & redshift ▪ Analysis : SED decomposition using 4 templates, L(0.03-30 μm) = LAGN + LE + LSbc + LIm SED templates (Assef et al. 2010) Example of SED fits

  2. Lee, JongChul Separating infrared-luminous galaxy SEDs into starburst and AGN components ▪ Non-negligible contribution of AGNs are found at least 20% of optically non-AGNs. ▪ The AGN contribution dramatically increases with the total luminosity. ▪ For dusty galaxies such as (U)LIRGs, the decomposition is useful to understand them. AGN E Sbc Im AGN contribution histogram according to optical spectral type Contribution of each component as a function of total luminosity
