  1. Rapid detection of sperm: comparison of two methods Miss Wimolmas Phorassamee 51312344

  2. Introduction

  3. comparison of two methods • Acid phosphatase test • Zinc test

  4. Component of sperm Acid Spermatozoa Enzyme (Protease, phosphatase) Semen Protein Seminal plasma Enzyme

  5. Method 174 cervicovaginal samples from consenting women Cytology Acid phosphatase test Zinc test Statistical

  6. Result

  7. Result (con.)

  8. Result(con.) • Acid phosphatase - sensitivity 95% - specificity 96% - PPV 93% - NPV 98%

  9. Result(con.) • Zinc test - sensitivity 81% - specificity 54% - PPV 49% - NPV 84%

  10. Discussion & Conclusion • the acid phosphatase test has good sensitivity and specificity, and above all that it has a negative predictive value of 98% • It is thus valuable as a screening test • the longest timespan after which detection was possible was 106 h between intercourse and sampling

  11. Discussion & Conclusion

  12. Thank you
