2. What will we cover? • We will be covering College Application Information for CSUs, UCs, Private Schools, and Out-of-State Schools. • This presentation is geared towards Seniors applying to 4 year colleges and Juniors wishing to get a head start on the process for next year. • Should you need help understanding the College Eligibility Process, there is a presentation in C-113 that will cover this information.

4. CSU Application Deadline • October 1- November 30: Submission period for applicants for fall 2013.

5. What you’ll need to apply to CSU • Transcript • Test Results • Social Security Number – Optional • E-mail Address • Personal Information

6. CSU Application Fees The application fee is $55 for each CSU campus to which you apply.

8. UC Application Deadline • October 1: Application opens for applicants for fall 2013. • November 1-30: Submission period for applicants for fall 2013

9. What you'll needto apply to UC It's a good idea to have everything prepared before you start your application so you're not trying to track down information at the last minute. Here's what you'll need: • Transcripts. You want to ensure the information you enter is accurate. • Test scores. If you're a freshman or sophomore applicant, you'll have to include your scores from the ACT Plus Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test. (If you're applying for fall, be sure to complete these tests by December.) All applicants should report scores for any SAT Subject Tests, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, TOEFL or IELTS exams they have taken.  • Annual income for 2010 and 2011 (your parents' if you're a dependent; yours if you're independent.) This is optional unless you're applying for a fee waiver or for the Educational Opportunity Program. • Social Security number, if you have one. We use this to match your application to things like your test score report, final transcript and, if you're applying for financial aid, your Free Application for Federal Student Aid. • Citizenship status. You must enter your country of citizenship (or "No Selection"). If your country of citizenship is outside the United States, you'll need to provide your immigration status and your visa type. • Statewide Student ID (optional). Each K-12 student in California public schools is assigned an ID number. If it's not printed on your transcript, ask your counselor or registrar. • Credit card. If you prefer to pay by check, you can mail your payment.

10. UC Application – Personal Statement Your personal statement should be exactly that — personal. This is your opportunity to tell us about yourself — your hopes, ambitions, life experiences, inspirations. We encourage you to take your time on this assignment. Be open. Be reflective. 11. UC Application Fees The application fee is $70 for each UC campus to which you apply. You must include the fees with your application or it will not be processed.

Applying to Private Colleges • Investigate school websites for application deadlines and admissions requirements. • They will want to hear about your student’s extra-curricular and club involvement, volunteer work, and awards. • They will most likely require letters of recommendation from multiple sources.
