  1. The Deep Ocean Table 1

  2. Ocean Life The ocean is home to more than 50% of the species that exist on earth. This estimate doesn’t include life that may exist in the 75% of the ocean that remains unexplored by humans. Scientists suggest we still have not discovered 2/3 of the species in the ocean. Assuming that we know the deepest point of the ocean, which is the Mariana Trench at about 36,000 feet, creatures can live at the very bottom. But the deepest point can not truly be know until the entire ocean is explored.

  3. Ocean Activity • A Hydrothermal Vent is an opening in the ocean floor where heated nutrient rich water flows through. Many species of sea creatures can be found around hydrothermal vents, because of the comfortable temperature, and nutrients. • A tsunami is a rapid flooding of an area, caused by seismic activity , or earthqaukes,on the ocean floor.

  4. Oceanography • Oceanographers like Sylvia Earle, founder of the company Deep Ocean Engineering, study the ocean and organisms that inhabit it. They often go on dives to explore underwater caves, and look for and study species of plants and animals. Oceanographers have a lot to study, considering more than 70% of the earth is covered in water, the largest ocean of that amount is the pacific ocean. 96% of water on earth is contained in oceans.

  5. Abyss • An Abyss is a deep trench in the ocean floor. There are many abyssal plains, located in many oceans, but depth varies. The average depth of the ocean is 2.6 Mi deep, but abysses can be 6 Mi or deeper.
