Where was ancient Egypt located? • Ancient Egypt was located in North East of the continent Africa near the Meditarean sea stretching 4000 miles from East Africa to the Meditarean sea. • When the Egyptians needed a form of guidance getting from one area to the next they would use the Nile river.

  3. Population of ancient Egypt • The population of ancient Egypt was estimated at about 1 -2 million inhabitants. • Due to many floods from the Nile river the population in ancient Egypt decreased.

  4. Where they lived and why • They lived mainly near the river, because of water; it brought famine, easy guide from one place to the next, to drink to bathe, cook etc.

  5. Who ruled Egypt? • The ancient Egyptian FIRST King was King Menes. • He then ruled lower Egypt and because of his dominance he built in Memphis naming it the capital.

  6. Who ruled Egypt? Contd. • King Menes existence has been questioned by many. • He was basically a city builder.

  7. Who ruled Egypt? Contd. • He built dams to help prevent flooding.

  8. Who ruled Egypt? contd. • He then ruled lower Egypt and because of his dominion, he or she built Memphis naming it the capital.

  9. What happened when a pharaoh died? • After a king or pharaoh ruled for many years he or she will obviously die or pass away. And due to this fatal cause the people that he ruled would do something to his body that would preserve it and get it ready for the after life.

  10. What happened when a pharaoh died?contd. • They would wrap the bodies in cloth. Which is now know as mummification. • Then place the bodies in a pyramid .And preserve it by a process called desiccation.

  11. Getting a new ruler. • When a King or pharaoh died the next member of the family would take up leadership.

  12. How long they’d ruled for • There were various kinds of pharaohs all for various responsibilities. • Death is uncertain to everyone and therefore they may rule until they died.

  13. Culture of the Egyptians Daily life. • Most Egyptians were farmers. Their dwellings were restricted to immediate family members, and were constructed of mud brick designed to remain cool during hot times. They were also cautions of their hygiene and appearance. Most bathed in the Nile and made soap from animal fat and chalk .At age 12 men were circumcised and women until maturity were naked.

  14. Cuisine • The staple diet consist of bread and beer. Their vegetable source came from onion and garlic and fruits such as dates and figs

  15. Military • The ancient Egypt military was responsible for protecting against invaders and for defending Egyptians domination in the ancient near east. • The ancient Egypt protected against expeditions and fought civil war.
