  2. PURPOSE TO PROVIDE BASIC INFORMATION REGARDING MISSION, ORGANIZATION, FUNCTIONS, ACTIVITIES, CAPACITIES AND CAPABILITIES OF THE ENGLISHLANGUAGE TRAINING SYSTEM IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENSE AND ARMED FORCES OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA.

Elementary Entry standards: - Unit Commander’s recommendation , - ALCPT Score : 0-29 , - First time attending. 2. Pre-intermediate Entry standards: - Elementary level accomplished, - ALCPT Score : 30-44, - Recommended by instructor 3. Intermediate Entry standards: - Pre-intermediate level accomplished, -ALCPT Score : 45-60, -Recommended by instructor

Upper-intermediate Entry standards: - Intermediate level accomplished, - ALCPT Score : 61-70, - Recommended by instructor 5. Advanced Entry standards: -Upper-intermediate level accomplished, -ALCPT Score : 71+, -Recommended by instructor

  9. ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSESAT CPD/TRADOC FLD PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. English language instructors have been trained either by DLI San Antonio USA or British Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2. Training in cooperation of BH AF, NHQ Sarajevo and BC aiming to qualify13 BH AFstaff for English language instructors has been completed 3. All English language instructors have been STANAG 6001 tested

ENGLISH LANGUAGECOURSES AT MIDI/MINI CENTERS • Handover of the Courses execution responsibilities from British Council to CPD/TRADOC Foreign Language Department took place in March 2009 • Courses are currently conducted by 26 certified English language instructors from TRADOC CPD FLD (including 10 instructors attached from other BH AF units) • 1435 BH AF have attended courses in Midi Centers since 2007 • All other data are given in the disposition map

AMERICAN LANGUAGE COURSE (ALC) - DLI PROGRAM • The capacity of the standard DLI program courses at intermediate ,upper-intermediate and advanced levelsis 64CPsper course. • English Military Terminology Course, as ESP course hasbeen developed by ALC DLI and could be conducted on request. The capacity is 20 students andit lasts three weeks. • English Refresher Course hasbeen developed by ALC DLI and could be conducted on request. The capacity is 20 students andit lasts three weeks. • The above mentioned courses are conducted by 14 DLIELCcertified instructors of CPD/TRADOC FLD. • The aim is to qualify students for passing STANAG 6001 test. • All other data are given in the disposition map.

KEY ACHIVEMENTS • Successful handover of Mini and Main centers from British Council to BH AF • Efficient reorganization of the English Language Coursesby the DLI program. • Approx. 4570 members of BH AF have been ALCPT tested in last two years, as a qualification gate to STANAG 6001 test and further training. • All English language instructors have been STANAG 6001 tested.

  21. KEY ACHIVEMENTS cont. • During last 2,5 years 479 AF members have been STANAG 6001 tested. (20 members obtained STANAG certificate outside of BH) • Functional English language training system has been established in MoD and AF BiH. ( Partnership goal G0355, participation in UN and NATO lead operations ) • Professional development of English language instructors has been provided mainly through the cooperation with the US Embassy ODC.
