  3. Colonies Become More Independent • Virginia House of Burgesses • Loser governors from England didn’t have any real power

  4. The Plot Thickens…Euro Land Disputes • Britain and France STILL hated each other… • Both wanted Ohio Valley • Geo. Washington against the French…Frenchies win • Native Americans choose the French side (duh!)

  5. Red Uniforms BADSmart commander GOOD • Start of war, British lost many battles--stood out like ducks in a gallery • New guy (James Wolfe) turns the tide • Quebec taken! <Sacré bleu!>

  6. War Ends, Problems Begin • France loses most of (now) U.S. territory • Britain is most powerful nation in world (Mua ha ha!) • Native Americans got the most raw deal • Pontiac’s “Conspiracy”

  7. Proclamation of 1763 (Important…hint, hint…) • Colonists could not go west of Appalachian crest • Indian reservation (for now…) • Wasn’t land what the colonists were fighting for all along?!

  8. After the War, Colonists Frustrated • British troops to “keep peace” in colonies, paid for by…colonists?! • First of many unpopular British political moves that eventually led to Revolution
