Hindlimb and Pelvis: • Long ischium (increases leverage of hamstring m.) • Long hindlimb • Femur head is cylindrical not ball and socket (for flexion/extension movements) • Deep femoral condyles (permits extensive range of flexion/extension) • Foot • Large hallux • Great cleft between hallux and 4 lateral digits (strong grasping foot) • Possibly regarded as the earliest locomotor specialization of primates and therefore preadaptive to some or all of the later patterns of primate locomotion
