  2. What is ‘Celebrating with Action’? A week long celebration for UWC’s 50th anniversary 16 to 22 September 2012 – with a focus on Wednesday 19 September Open to all students, school and college staff, alumni, national committee members and other volunteers Combination of physical and online actions – activities, events and campaigns

  3. Join the celebration Showcase UWC’s challenging and transformational education Demonstrate the impact of the UWC experience Highlight UWC’s diversity Find old friends and/or make new ones Increase awareness of UWC

  4. How will it work? Any UWC constituent or individual member can initiate and organise an action The action can be limited to a single participant or open to many Multiple digital platforms will be utilised to create a robust and flexible hub to connect actions and participants as well as sharing the action with the whole movement Collective impact will raise the awareness and profile of UWC

  5. Deciding on an Action UWC mission related education peace environmental Reflect UWC values Individual or group activity Lead or join an activity Physical, online or both

  6. Action examples Initiate a community service project Run a conflict resolution session at work or University Mentor UWC students or others ‘back home’ Create a viral marketing campaign Create and upload videos and photos Organise an online UWC conference

  7. Why start planning now? Re-connect with other UWC-ers and be inspired to aim for a larger action Ensure your action/activity is in the calendar - at work/home/community Find a local partner to work with and increase the impact Fundraise for the action Secure a media partner

  8. What next? UWC International will commence building the online hub and creating support materials including: media packs celebration packs key facts and figures Tell what you are planning or thinking of doing on the extranet Updates will be posted to the UWC extranet
