Our Interpretation of 6 Articles From the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Our Articles (1-6) Article 2.Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty. Article 3.Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. Article 4. No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. Article 5. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Article 6.Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. Article 15 (1) Everyone has the right to a nationality. (2) No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality.

Response to Article #2 • We think that this article means that it is stating the right of equality and fairness to all people no matter what. • Without this article, that would mean that people could be openly discriminated and hated by others because of their status.
Article #3 • Article 3 states that everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.
Response to Article #3 • We think that this article means that it is securing the right to life and that you should be able have security to your personal self as well as liberties. • Without that article, it would mean that you wouldn’t be able to have your freedoms and you wouldn’t be able to security of your thoughts and beliefs, and even for some, their opinions wouldn’t be theirs because someone else would have power to take away their opinion.
Article #4 • Article 4 states that no one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.
Response to Article #4 • We think that this article means that slavery will not be accepted in any form no matter what. • Without this article, it would mean that slavery could be everywhere, and you or I or even anyone could be held in slavery.
Article #5 • Article 5 says that no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
Response to Article #5 • We think that this article means that no one will be tortured or have any punishment that will hurt or harm them. • Without this article, it would mean that you could be tortured and killed or have any other manner of punishment or harm inflicted upon you or anyone else.
Article #6 • Article 6 states that everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
Response to Article #6 • We think that this article means that a person is a person no matter how small, or big, or black or white. No matter what race you are, or your traits or characteristics, you shall be treated as an equal. • Without this article, you could be openly discriminated against, because of color birthright, sex, or any other thing about your physical or mental being.
Article #15 Article 15 says that: (1) Everyone has the right to a nationality. (2) No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality.
Response to Article #15 • We think that this article means everyone has the right to have their own nationality to their own country and will not be forced to give up their nationality. • Without this article, it could and would mean that you could be forced into a country and therefore when in that country would become subject or under rule of that countries’ leader.
More About the Article Rights • Unfortunately, many of the articles are broken today. However, that doesn’t mean that they should be. You are still able to work and fight against the breaking of these articles and are able to avoid and stand up to those who break these articles.
