  2. Find section 6.P.3 Energy in your interactive notebook: complete this warm Up Find 5examples of energy in our classroom This does not mean list 5 types of energy from your foldable, give EXAMPLES!

  3. Warm Up 5 examples of energy that you can see or hear in our classroom could include: 1. Radiant energy (sunshine in our window) 2. Electrical energy (lamp or overhead lights) 3. Chemical Energy (PowerPoint slide clicker 4. Sound energy (pencil sharpener) 5. Mechanical energy (sliding desk chairs)

  4. Upcoming Test… • This week on Thursday and Friday you will have a test on 6.P.2.2 States of Matter and 6.P.2.3 Properties of Matter

  5. Important Date…. • Write this down…. • Test on States of Matter 6.P.2.2 and Properties of Matter 6.P.2.3 • B Day 10/16/2014 (Thursday) • A Day 10/17/2014 (Friday)

Your Test • This test will be in 2 parts: • Part 1: Multiple Choice (20 questions) • Part 2: Notebook Test (20 questions) • You must have your notebook up to date to perform well on both parts of the test • YOU MUST HAVE YOUR NOTEBOOK ON TEST DAY TO COMPLETE PART 2 • Let’s see how well we understand:

  7. Our Thermometer Lab • How did the red liquid inside the thermometer move in ice water; in boiling water? Why did it do this? • Name 3 facts about a liquid? • In what state of matter do the atoms have the most energy? • In what state of matter do the atoms have the least energy? • Can you draw the atoms in all 3 states of matter?

  8. Properties of Matter • What is density? • What is the formula for density? • Why do some items float in water while other items sink in water? • How can melting point and freezing point be the same temperature for water?

  19. Rube Goldberg Cartoons… • Take a look at his cartoons on pages 10, 11, 12, 13. Follow steps starting at A and move along to Z • EN 10 • EN 11 • EN 12 • EN 13 • 5 minutes

Rube Goldberg Cartoon – EN 12 • You will now be assigned a specific part of the cartoon – turn to page EN 12 • Group 1 will focus on Letters A-E • Group 2 will focus on Letters F-J • Group 3 will focus on Letters K-O • Group 4 will focus on Letters P-T • Group 5 will focus on Letters U-Z • You are trying to identify each energy source at each letter – 7 minutes
