  1. Road Planing Road planing is the process of removing a layer of the surface of a paved area such as bridge, road, and parking lot. Milling as it is known removes any thickness to smoothen and level the surface to a full depth removal. There are some various reasons for milling a paved area instead of just repaving the whole existing surface. Road planing typically removes 1” to 2” of concrete or 1” to 4” of tarmac surface allowing for the application of a transparent wearing surface. It preserves curb and gutter but allows improvement to the surface and grade pavement section. There are different classes of road planing, and they are: Class I - Road planing that involves removal of surface irregularities. Class II - Road planing the path towards even depths as shown in the specification. Class III - It is same with class II only with an additional cross slope. Class IV - Road planing of full depth up to the base. Class V - Road planing at different depths in different locations. Some of the advantages of road planing are: Improved surface Road planing restores pavement to a uniform cross-section. Restore drainage flow.

  2. Road planing removes the ruts on the surface of the road. Road planing provides a unique surface texture for improved new pavement. Efficient and Sustainable It has minimal traffic interruption to the traffic flow. In most situations, traffic flow is maintained during the planing, and it is safe to travel on the surface immediately after milling. It is energy saving and most of the remains after construction can be used in other areas such as road rehabilitation. The process is fast leaving behind a perfect surface. Environmentally Friendly Reclaimed material is retained for future use, maintaining a clean, friendly environment. The process generates no smoke or flame, and the small amount of dust is controllable. Application of road planing Distresses -Removing distresses from a surface so as to level a surface. Ravelling - Removing aggregate that has being separated from the binder course. Bleeding - Removing sections of the road surface. Rutting - Removing wheel tracking or low spots in the road. Shoving - Removing washboard effects formed along the road width. Removing damaged surface caused by road fire, vehicle accident or chemical spills. Used to form rumble strips and speed tables used to slow traffic. Road planing is used to remove materials on height secondary structures. Grading the road surface id done to maintain proper drainage. Utilizing a wide variety of planing equipment provide a lot of benefits such as automated functionality, manoeuvrability in confined and small spaces. The combination of these factors reduce the project time and deliver savings to a client. Do you need road surfacing? The answer lies in whether or not the base course of your road, parking lot or pavement is in good condition. If road planing does not provide the perfect surface after several attempts, the problem might be the foundation. Source: Click Here
