  10. Vision 2007-08 Strengthening of Existing Student Branches • Enhance Networking Among Branches • Empower the Branch Counselor • IEEE Alumni Groups • Branch Operations Guide/ News letter

  11. 1. Emphasize on the network • Student Branch Networking (section level) • Healthy competition among branches • Section level Biannual student meets, • Annual Council & Regional level student meets • E groups at section level • Update of emails & addresses of branch officers –started already

Empowering the Branch Counselor Student branch challenges: • Ever changing student leadership • Not able to successfully transfer the experience base • The Branch Counselor: The Vital Link Activities • Start Branch Counselor’s congress at section level and at Council level. Call for the first congress given in January • Counselor Awards at R10 level (The same format as the RAB award, deadline 30th May 2007)

  13. Objectives: • To empower and motivate the Branch counselors who are the vital link between the changing student leadership of a branch. Activity: • Branch Counselor’s Congress: at section level, council level with all /partial expenses paid by R10. • More outstanding Branch Counselor awards: 3 new awards for Region 10,

Branch Counselors congress: Motivating the Branch Counselor • Make the counselor aware of the possibilities in front of them • Make a manual of activities that can be planned (Technical, Professional, Social etc) for the branch • The importance of the branch counselor during the infancy of the student branch • Financial management of the branch • Liaison with the local section

  15. Motivating the Branch Counselor (contd…) • Fund raising tips • Conduct of effective meetings • Resolving a crisis, election process of the branch • Calendar of events for the student branch • Awards and recognition for the branches, students & counselors

  16. Branch Counselor’s Congress: Pilot Project Three Applications received Council level • Japan Council: October 2007 • India Council: October 2007 Section level • Hyderabad section: April 2007 The SAC committee approved all the three proposals

IEEE ALUMNI Groups FormIEEE student branch ALUMNI Groups • Keep in constant touch with IEEE student Branch Alumni wherever they are! • Call an IEEE Alumni meet every year (SB level /Section) • Make senior members talk to alumni for membership retention/benefits • Call prominent IEEE Alumni from Academics& Industry for interaction: mentoring • Big boost for GOLD • 4 meetings planned in 2007 • Announcement to be made in April 2007

  18. IEEE ALUMNI Meet 2007 The first IEEE SB Alumni Meet • At Jamia Millia Islamia on 7th January ’07 • Registration: 10 IEEE Alumni and 40 Current IEEE students • GD, Pledge, Mentoring etc • A Big boost toGOLD affinity Group • The Alumni renewing the IEEE membership

Branch Operations Guide • A Guide for the student branch officers • Available on-line and hard copy to branches • Contents: Organization, Branch administration, Activities, Awards, Library, Rebate Schedule, Calendar, Forms, etc • Contents: Suggestions are welcome • Addresses of current branch officers??

  20. Proposals for R10 SC/GOLD Congress2008 Call for proposals: Madras Section short listed for holding the congress Explore the possibility of holding a Joint R10, R8 student congress in Dubai! Final decision in May after getting detailed proposals from Madras and Dubai
