3. Long Backboard Rescue • If four or more firefighters are present, one FF can support the victim’s head and neck, while the second and third FF’s move the victim by lifting under the arms. • The victim can be moved in line with the long axis of the body, with the head and neck stabilized in the neutral position.

4. Skill Drill 13-15Performing a Long Backboard Rescue (1 of 4) 1. The first fire fighter provides in-line manual support of the victim’s head and cervical spine. 2. The second fire fighter gives commands and applies a cervical collar.

5. Skill Drill 13-15Performing a Long Backboard Rescue (2 of 4) 3. The third fire fighter frees the victim’s legs and moves the legs together without moving the pelvis or spine. 4. Two fire fighters rotate the victim as a unit. The first fire fighter supports the victim’s head and neck.
