  1. Mrs. Anderson’sClassroom Procedures 2013-14 ~ Health ~

  2. Entering the classroom: • Quietly enter the classroom, take your seat, and begin working on your bell work. • Being on time means being in your seat and on task when the tardy bell rings (not running through the door as it rings!) or you will be TARDY! • Once inside the classroom, you will not be permitted to leave without permission. You are not allowed out of your seat without permission. Make good decisions!

  3. Announcements over the PA: • No matter what is going on in class, it must be quiet for announcements. • Even if the announcements do not pertain directly to you, please be quiet.

  4. Absentees: • If you know in advance that you will be gone, talk to me to get your assignments before you go. • As long as you had an excused absence you get to make up work that was missed for full credit. You have one day for every day absent to make up the work you missed, IF THE WORK IS NOT COMPLETED & TURNED IN ON TIME, A ZERO (0) WILL GO IN THE GRADEBOOK. • It is your responsibility to make-up work upon your return to school to receive credit for the assignment.

  5. Absentees: **YOU MUST SEE THE TEACHER TO MAKE-UP WORK** • How to turn in work after being absent or late work: When you are ready to turn in missed assignments, fill out an absentee or late work form (Absentee/Late Work Tray ) with your name, date(s) absent or due date, date work is turned in, and assignment name. One form is to be filled out per assignment. Staple the form to each individual missed assignment and put it in the Absentee/Late Work Tray.

  6. Distributing Graded Materials: • Class work and homework will be returned promptly as soon as all make up work has been turned in. They are to be kept in your notebook. I may ask that you return certain assignments. • Tests will be returned and reviewed promptly; however, I will keep them.

  7. My Desk, Chair, and Computer: • Off limits to you unless I directly give you permission. • Do not come into my space for any reason. This is especially important if a substitute is present.

  8. Getting Around the Classroom: • You are not to get out of your seat for any reason. Raise your hand if you need something. • YOU must sit in your assigned seat at all times!

  9. Leaving the Classroom: • No one will be allowed to leave the classroom during class unless called to the office or using a hall pass. • You can only go out of the room (bathroom) 4 times during each 9 weeks period. I will sign it when you decide to use it. You must have the form filled out completely before I will sign. You must keep up with your Passes Page in order to use this privilege. You can only use 1 per day. If you choose not to use your passes, they may be traded in for extra points on your 9 weeks test. • SIGN IN & OUT! This is located behind the door. YOU MUST DO THIS!!!

  10. Internet: • If we go to the computer lab or use the computer cart, it is a privilege, not a right. • When we go to the lab or use the computer cart, you will always have an educational purpose. You will have a handout with specific instructions as to what you are looking for.

  11. Internet: • You must remain on the subject that we are studying. You should never go to sites that are not related to the material at hand. • Even sites that are not “bad” but just not about our content are unacceptable to visit. • You will never be allowed to just “Surf the Net,” so don’t ask!

  12. Headings of Papers to Be Turned In: • All information should placed to the right of the pg • Your name (First and Last) • Period (1st period) • Date (8/9/10) • Top line (in the middle): Name of Assignment ( Exercise A, pg. 45) • No Fuzzies: That means papers ripped out of a spiral notebook.

  13. Finished Assignments: • Unless told otherwise, place your correctly labeled paper to the turn-in drawer. • If you finish early, work on other assignments, read, do homework, or study (whatever is assigned). You should not disturb others!

  14. Current Events: ***** Total of 5 CE’s***** • You will need to get an article from a magazine, newspaper, or Internet. They must be science or health related. On a sheet of notebook paper, write a paragraph summary (5 sentences at least). You must attach the article to the back of the sheet of notebook paper. If you do not have the article, you will receive no credit! You will not be able to turn these in late (don’t ask).

  15. Current Events: • ALL current events are DUE THE FRIDAY BEFORE 9 WEEKS EXAMS. You can turn them into your folder every Friday to help keep up with them. They are worth 10 pts per week and will be counted as 1 test grade for each 9 wks period. This is an easy way to earn pts in this class. • PLEASE WRITE THE DUE DATE ON THIS PAGE!!!!!

  16. Notebooks: • You will keep a 3-ring binder notebook that contains work for this class. • This paper (Classroom Procedures) should always be in your notebook! • Your Notes will be graded periodically. You are responsible for any notes missed due to absences or school related activities.

  17. Grades: • Grades are issued according to district policy. • LATE WORK = LATE POINTS (UP TO 20 PTS DAILY) • GUEST SPEAKER & VIDEO MAKE-UP = 2 paragraphs on guest speaker or video topic

  18. Participation: • Each student will be given a bi-weekly participation grade.

  19. Bell Work/Closure Folder: • You will use your folder for bell work/closure. You will not be able to take class notes in this folder. You will leave this folder in the classroom everyday. DO NOT TAKE IT HOME! • You will receive bi-weekly grades for your bell work and closure (10 pts per day = 100 pts bi-weekly). In order to receive full credit for each day, it must be in the same format as below. If you loose your folder, you will have to make-up each day or receive no credit. This is to teach you responsibility. Do your bell work everyday when you walk in the room, not just when you feel like it. EASY GRADE!

  20. Bell Work/Closure Folder: • DO NOT JUST WRITE ABSENT! If you are ABSENT, you must get the bell work from a classmate. If it is a worksheet ask me to get it for you. If asked to respond in a paragraph, you must write in complete sentences and it must consist of 5 sentences. Any time you write a paragraph you must follow these instructions otherwise you will not receive full credit! All worksheets need to be stapled in to you bell folder. (I will show you what to do).

  21. Bell Work/Closure Folder: • This is an example of how you are expected and will respond for full credit in your bell folder: • Week: _1_ • Date: __8/7/13 - 8/10/13__ • Bell or Closure: Write the entire question or whatever is written on the board here. • Response: Respond to the question or worksheet. Write your paragraph here.

  22. Guest Speaker Report – Student Guide: • Students will complete a report after each guest speaker presentation. The report and your participation in the class discussion will count as a daily grade. Use your own notebook paper & this format to complete this assignment. Use of complete sentences, correct facts, and proper grammar = full credit. FACTS: Give FIVE important facts you learned from the speaker’s presentation.
