  1. VET in Schools TAFE Embedded Language Course

  2. What? • VET (Vocational Education and Training) • Must comply with National Training Framework (NTF) • VET programs must meet CC and WACE requirements For more information www.vetinfonet.det.wa.edu

  3. Why? • Students will a Certificate II or III in Applied Languages • Consistent with NTF • Can improve retention in LOTE in Year 11 & 12 classes • Students can repeat assessments to gain compentency

  4. How? There are 3 ways for doing ‘VET’: • VET Industry Specific • VET Integrated Courses • VET Stand alone

  5. TAFE REQUIREMENTS • Each unit requires 50 hours of tuition (60 hours for character based languages) • Available languages: Chinese (Mandarin), Indonesian, French, Italian, German, Japanese and Spanish

  6. Qualifications • Certificate II in Applied Languages (39042QLD) 1A/1B & 2A/2B (CBSLOTE2001/2002 1A/1B) (CBSLOTE2003/2004 2A/2B) • Certificate III in Applied Languages (CBSLOTE3001/3002 2A/2B) (CBSLOTE3003/3004 3A/3B)

  7. Vet in Schools • Year 10 Certificate II in Applied Languages (39042QLD) • Year 11 & 12 Certificate III in Applied Languages (39044QLD) (students are awarded for ‘Recognised Prior Learning’)

  8. Roles and Responsibilities • Attend VET in Schools Auspicing Induction Session (approximately March) • Complete Application ‘Auspicing Expression of Interest’ through your VET Coordinator • Send Delivery Schedule/Assessment Plan to TAFE • Create a file for each student • Continue to update file • Complete Assessment Checklist when unit is complete • Send application for Awards • Supply results

  9. Costs • Auspicing Agreement $1600.00 • Student Enrolment $20/student
