  23. Safety Innovations?

  24. Data Collection & Driver Feedback System • Onboard computer installed in each vehicle to assess driving performance • Real Time Feedback puts drivers in control of performance (Choice of tones or voice messages) Onboard Computer Audio Speaker

  25. What is Road Safety? INPUTS Seat belts Speed (mph) Turns (g-force) Acceleration (rpm) Braking Back-up spotter Turn signal Lights & sirens • OUTPUTS • Audible Warning • Reports • Onboard Monitoring & Vehicle Tracking

  26. Driver Training Cost Savings Real-time Feedback How Road Safety Works Reward and Coach Immediate Improvements Data Upload and Reporting Event Analysis Benchmark Drivers

  27. Singapore’s Experience with Road Safety • 2 Emergency vehicles selected for 6 weeks trial • Road Safety was installed and left without tones for 3 weeks (same function as conventional black boxes- recording) • After 3 weeks tones were turned on and drivers were given basic briefing and a 10mins “ride along” orientation • Data were downloaded after 6 weeks (3 weeks before and 3 week after tones) for comparison
