Types of Leaders. The Autocrat... tells people what to do. The Autocrat has little confidence in the people he/she works with and distrusts them. He/she makes most of the decisions and passes them the line. He/she makes threats where necessary to ensure that his/her orders are obeyed. .

  2. The Autocrat... tells people what to do. The Autocrat has little confidence in the people he/she works with and distrusts them. He/she makes most of the decisions and passes them the line. He/she makes threats where necessary to ensure that his/her orders are obeyed.

  3. The Benevolent Autocrat ….. sells his/her ideas to others . The Benevolent Autocrat sees himself/herself as a superior figure who makes all the Important decisions and then convinces subordinates to go along with them. He/She may allow some decisions to be made by others within a framework set by him/her. Rewards as well as punishments may be used to 'motivate‘ people.

  4. The Consultative Democrat... consults With others before making his decisions. The Consultative Democrat has confidence and trust in most people and communicates and consults widely with the people he/she works with. Before making decisions he/she will seek the views of the people, but he or she will have the final say.

  5. The Participatory Democrat... shares the decision making process with others. The Participatory Democrat has complete confidence and trust in the people he/she works with. When a major problem arises or decision has to be made, all the relevant actors are called together to discuss the issues and the majority view is taken as the final decision.

  6. The Laissez-faire leader….. just doesn’t care This leader is detached and far removed from the people he is supposed to serve. He is there not by choice and has no interest in serving the position.
