  2. The World of the Renaissance • During the Renaissance the world was going through an extreme change. • The word “Renaissance” in itself is defined as a “rebirth” or as “reconstruction” • People started believing in humanism, which is the belief that the power lies in man, not in god.

Characteristics of the Renaissance • During the Renaissance there was the Early, High, and Late Period • During the Renaissance the figure of the human body was drawn or sculpted in the perfect form with special attention to anatomical details • Having your portrait done was very common during the Renaissance

  4. Important Artists of the Renaissance • Leonardo da Vinci, and Italian painter • Michelangelo, sculptor, painter, architecture • Donatello, sculptor, painter

Information • Leonardo da Vinci was also the painter of the famous Mona Lisa. • Michelangelo also sculpted the statues David and Moses, and painted the Sistine Chapel • The Renaissance built on innovative architectural techniques of Ancient Greece and Rome which included: the arch, the vault, the dome, principles of stress and Atrium Style Houses.
