  1. Miscellaneous Factory Builts

  2. Both have long, constant chord wings. Both are taildraggers unless on floats. Beaver has a round engine (some converted to turbine) where the Helio has a flat engine or turbine. DeHaviland Beaver Helio Courier

  3. Notice the large, single air inlet on this original Navion. Some navions have been modified with a more modern cowling. The sliding canopy has a large one piece side window. Main gear looks narrow in the air, and the tail is very Mustang like Navion Some Navion’s have had tip tanks added, but: A Navion with doors and tip tanks is called a Rangemaster. Aerostar

  4. Large side windows and sliding canopy differ from Cherokee. • Vertical tail is very distinctive. Straight up on the trailing edge with a long fairing into the fuselage. Grumman’s • Grummans have a distinct curved nosewheel • Wing is always constant chord with a fixed gear that angles outward. • May be a trainer (TR-2, two-seater, or the four seat Traveler, Tiger or Cheetah.

  5. Trinidad’s horizontal tail is completely behind the vertical tail. The main gear is very narrow compared to a cherokee or bonanza. Trinidad has a large, upsloped, triangular rear window. Trinidad Trinidad Tail Basically the same airplane with a fixed gear, ie no gear doors outboard of struts, is called a Tobago.

  6. Meyers 200 gear looks almost identical to a Bonanza’s. The Meyers has 2 lights in the nose and a squared off conventional tail. Mooney Classic Mooney front end with the yolk cowl and the stubby in line gear. Newer Mooney’s have the same gear, but a more modern cowling. Meyers 200

  7. Good view of retracted Navion gear and the distinct vertical tail, with the horizontal tail quite far forward. Meyers 145 & 200 Notice how the Meyers 200 has a bubble canopy look and a narrow aft fuselage. The Meyers 145 is a two seat, retractable gear, taildragger. It is currently being made by an indian tribe in Florida and is called a Micco….

  8. Now that you know, how could anyone call the airplane on the left a Cessna. The notch between the cabin and aft fuselage is unique, yes? 2003 Luscombe Sedan Luscombe Sedan The original Sedan’s were all taildragggers, like the one at right: but, the fuselage was basically the same.

  9. Commander and Trinidad are similar. Both have trailing link gear and an upswept rear window. Commanders vertical is much wider at the base and it has a cruciform horizontal tail. Mooney Commander 114 Older Mooney

  10. Vikings have a large swept vertical tail and usually a fake third side window painted on. The main gear has doors on both sides that widen out at the front. With the gear up, you can see the two bumps, of the gear doors, covering the main wheels that don’t fully retract into the wing. Bellanca Viking Viking
