  1. Women & Their Various Facets

  2. Women are complex creatures. While that makes them hard to understand for some people, it has its unique benefits also. We talk about two women who have turned around their lives, dabbling their hands in multiple things, which is completely different from how they started out probably! By: Soumya Jain Women are considered to be natural multitaskers. They are also more artistically inclined than the opposite gender. And well, they are adaptable too. These reasons make women extremely fluid. For some, these aspects work out in their favor very well. We talk about two such women who are in a very different place from where they were before… Anouska Hempel A regular in the London society, Anouska Hempel, also known as Lady Weinberg, started out her career as an actress in the 1960s and 70s. Her most notable movie was a James Bond film: ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’. Her acting career didn’t really fly off or give her much applause. Since then, she has turned around to become one of the most brilliant hoteliers and interior designers of our time.

  3. From hotels to restaurants to stores to magnificent gardens, Anouska Hempel has dabbled in a variety of projects. Her restaurant projects include Shy in Jakarta and Tom Aikens in London. She has designed retail stores for Van Cleef & Arpels (in London, Paris, Monaco, Beverly Hills, Osaka and Geneva) and Louis Vuitton, for whom she designed their flagship Paris store and items such as luxury fountain pens. Incredibly, Lady Weinberg has also designed two yachts: "Beluga" her own personal yacht, and San Lorenzo, a sleek minimal design for a private commission. She has even designed couture clothing for many personalities, including Lady Diana.

  4. Featuring some of these incredible projects, Anouska Hempel has even released her coffee table book. She calls herself “like a grasshopper” who can easily shift from here to there, depending on the requirements of her clients. No wonder that Anouska Hempel successfully managed to turn around her life and make it beautiful.

  5. Farah Khan Ali Born with a silver spoon, Farah Khan Ali is the daughter of Indian actor Sanjay Khan. For a girl living as a royal princess already, she didn’t need to fight for her bread and butter. But then, a chance trip to Los Angeles turned into a lesson in gemology, and she became a jewellery designer. With designs that can rival those of Cartier or Van Cleef & Arpels, Farah Khan Ali’s creativity is simply mind-boggling. Using nature and love as her inspiration, her designs are colorful and vibrant. With a unique, extravagant design style, the wife of famous DJ Aqeel has proven that she didn’t need her background to be famous. She could be proven on her own merit.

  6. Since jewellery designing, Farah Khan Ali has now branched out into designing luxury lifestyle products such as scarves, candles, napkin rings and more. She has also launched her coffee table book – which is a common factor between her and Anouska Hempel – again, chronicling some of her most magnificent collections. She has, basically, launched Farah Khan World, an entire universe of luxury lifestyle products. And these are just two women we know. And there are countless other women out there who are proving themselves with grit, fluidity and constructive creativity. Salut!
