MEMORANDUM TO: Department and Agency Directors, and Agency Fleet Managers/Fleet Contacts FROM: Chief of Staff, Derek Miller SUBJECT: Expedited Adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) “…I encourage you to consider a CNG or HEV vehicle as the default position when a state agency receives a new vehicle, unless there are compelling business reasons to not receive a CNG, HEV, or other alternative fuel vehicle.”

MEMORANDUM Continued “…I am asking each of you to review your vehicle purchasing needs and plans for the coming year, and to consider an expanded role for HEV and CNG vehicles in your fleet operations. As you review your purchasing plans, I encourage you to be open to a bold shift to a more diverse fleet in which these alternative vehicles figure more prominently.”
