  3. KINETIC ENERGY • The energy in motion

  4. JOULE • the SI unit of work or energy, equal to the work done by a force of one Newton when its point of application moves through a distance of one meter in the direction of the force: equivalent to 107 ergs and one watt-second.

  5. WATTAGE • the amount of power required to operate an electrical device.

  6. RENEWABLE ENERGY • any naturally occurring, source of energy

  7. NONRENWABLE ENERGY • Energy that comes from the ground and is not replaced in a relatively short amount of time.

  8. WEATHERSTRIPPING • A narrow strip of material to cover the joint of a door or window to exclude the cold 

  9. INSULATION • A material or substance that is used to keep out cold air.

  10. RFACTOR • a genetic component of some bacteria that provides resistance to antibiotics and can be transferred from one bacterium to another by conjugation.

  11. GREENHOUSE EMMISSION • are gases in an atmosphere that absorb and emit radiation within the thermal infrared range.

  12. THERMOSTAT • a device, including a relay actuated by thermal conduction or convection.

  13. CARBON FOOTPRINT • a measure of the amount of carbon dioxide produced by a person.

  14. EFFICIENCY • a device, including a relay actuated by thermal conduction or convection,

  15. AMBIENT TEMPERATURE • the temperature of the surrounding environment; technically, the temperature of the air surrounding a power supply or cooling medium

  16. AUDIT • the temperature of the surrounding environment.
