  2. Potential Energy Potential energy is the energy that shows mass, shape and position.

  3. Kinetic Energy Kinetic energy is the energy of the object that is due to its motion.

  4. Joule Joule is an energy that is converted by a force of one neutron to act on a moving object. Joule is also a SI based unit.

  5. Wattage An amount of electric power that is used in kilowatts and watts.

  6. Renewable Energy An energy that comes from natural sources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat.

  7. Nonrenewable Energy The energy that comes from the natural sources such as coal, petroleum, gas and nuclear energy.

  8. Weatherstripping  The process of sealing openings such as doors, windows, and trunks from the elements.

  9. Insulation A material that reduces or prevents the transmission of sounds, heat, or electricity.

  10. R-Factor A numeric measure of a material’s ability to insulate heat or cold.

  11. Greenhouse Emissions A gas that contributes to the greenhouse effect by absorbing infrared radiation.

  12. Thermostat A device that maintains a system at a constant temperature.

  13. Ambient Temperature The temperature of the room or the temperature that surrounds an object.

  14. Efficiency The ratio of the output to the input of any system.

  15. Carbon Footprint The total set of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, event or product.

  16. Audit An inspection or a survey that produces the amount of energy in a process or a system.
