  1. DANCE! • Parents: Teach your child a dance from your past • Kids: Teach your parents a cool new dance • Move to the music pretending to be an animal on the paper plate • Play “Follow the Leader” • Play “Musical Freeze” (choose a leader who says freeze and everyone needs to freeze in a certain position) • Interpretive Dance (dance however the music makes you feel)

  2. WACKY WALKING • Walk together as a family around the perimeter of the room • Jog-Walk-Jog-Walk: when you get to each corner, change your speed • Color Walk: Walk to a color in the room • Walk like an animal: use your imagination and pretend you are different types of animals-how does each move differently • Fitness Walk: When you get to each polyspot, do the exercise on the spot

  3. SOCK BALL TENNIS • Hit the ball over the net and play a game of tennis • See how many times you can keep the ball in the air by hitting it to yourself • See how many times you can keep the ball in the air by hitting it to a partner • See how many times you can hit a target on the wall

  4. SODA POP BOWLING • Roll with your dominant hand • Roll with your non-dominant hand • Do a 3-step bowling approach • Add or multiply numbers together when keeping score. • Play “Builders and Bulldozers”: One person is the builder and sets up the pins, another person is the bulldozer and knocks them down. Play for a designated amount of time and see who wins!

BALLOON VOLLEYBALL • Hit the ball over the net and play a game of volleyball with a partner or team • See how many times you can keep the balloon in the air by hitting it to yourself • See how many times you can keep the balloon in the air by hitting it to a partner • See how many different body parts you can hit the balloon with • Play follow the leader and hit the balloon with the same body part that the leader did

  6. MILK JUG SCOOPS • Play catch • Keep count of how many catches you make as a team • Stand apart from one another and play catch. Take a step backwards each time you make a successful catch. Take a step forwards each time you miss. • See how many times you can toss it and catch it yourself. Each time you are successful, throw it a little higher in the air.

  7. PAPER PLATE SPORTS Use paper plates or your socks on the kitchen or hardwood floor! • Ice Skating (twirls, forward skate, backward skate, create a routine to music) • Cross Country Skiing • Hockey • Slalom Skiing

  8. PLAYGROUND GAMES • Go to the playground and encourage kids to slide, swing, and use upper body strength! • Traditional games like hopscotch, four square, jump rope

  9. STEP AEROBICS • How many different types of steps do you know? (A step, crossover step, basic step, etc.) • How many times can you do the basic step in a minute? • Can you create your own routine? • Play “Follow the Leader”

  10. PUSH-UPS WITH PINACHE • Do push-ups, or other muscular strength or flexibility activities, during the commercials of a TV Show • How many different types of push-ups can you do?

  11. NOODLE GOLF • Create your own backyard miniature golf game • Create a golf course throughout your house • Create a neighborhood golf course with each house becomes a different “hole” • Use cardboard boxes or buckets as the hole.
