  1. The making of a legacy Good Friday – 4/22/11

  2. Everyone’s desire • If you’ve done it right • If you’ve done it wrong • We all desire to leave a legacy

  3. If Friday wasn’t good • What would the legacy have looked like if He wasn’t resurrected? • Would His life made a difference in many? • Would humanity be better as a result? • Did He fulfill His mission even before His victory over death, hell, and the grave? • Luke 4:18-19

  4. Through Mary and Martha’s eyes • Helped Martha realize there was more to life than serving • Became a close friend of the family of Lazarus, Mary, and Martha • Was there for them during their time of hurt • Raised Lazarus from the dead • Luke 10:38-42 and John 11:1-44

  5. From Malchus’ perspective • He was part of the mob that was going to take Jesus captive • You ever find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time because of someone else’s mistake? • Jesus met him with compassion (and his ear), and healed him

  6. Through the centurion's eyes • His extra level of faith became an avenue by which Jesus would show many His power • As a centurion, he was allied with who some would have perceived to be Jesus enemy (the Roman government) • His servant was paralyzed and tormented • Real life example – Jack Harris in Iraq

  7. What about the others? • To those with demonic possession? • To those who could not see? • To those who could not walk? • To those who saw themselves as hopeless? • To those who were hungry? • To those who were lost?

  8. What does your legacy look like? • Can people tell the Spirit of the Lord is upon you? • Do you preach the gospel to the poor? • Do you seek out the broken hearted to offer healing? • Do you proclaim liberty to the captives • Do you proclaim sight to the blind? (Physically and Spiritually) • Do you pray and intercede for those who are oppressed? • Do you proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord?

  9. But Friday was Good! • Example of the bird in Yosemite National Forest • He not only did those things Himself, but appointed us to do them as well • He appointed His disciples to: • Mark 3:14 • Luke 10:8-10 • Matthew 28:18-20
