  2. Learning Objectives • Describe how different organisms from various habitats are adapted to live where they do. • Explain and provide examples of how human activity impacts the natural world.

  3. Transportation Expectations • Arrive at school 7:15 a.m. ready to board the bus. • Depart from MS at 7:30 a.m. • Meet at bus at Golden Gate Park no later than 2:30 for return. • Return to PGMS at 5-5:30 p.m.

  4. Acceptable Use of TechnologyCell Phones, iPods, Cameras NO iPads, Laptops, or other larger tablets!

  5. CAS Behavioral Expectations • Stay with your chaperone and group at all times. • Be respectful of the living animals by walking through the museum • Talk quietly and resisting the urge to tap on the glass. • Don't open food or drinks in the exhibits. • California Academy of Science

  7. Team Tasks • Take a picture with someone on your team standing next to this fossil for scale. • Fact Quest: • How much did this animal weigh? • How much did it eat? • Why the short forelimbs? Examples of tasks: T-Rex Skeleton

  8. Team Tasks • Fact Quest: • Carefully observe the Galapagos tortoises. Find 3 variations (physical differences) between these 4 species. Task: Islands of Evolution

  9. Team Tasks • Snakes and Lizards – How many can you find? #5: Rainforest

  10. Possible End Products (Team or Individual) – Extra Credit? • Mini documentary : video, narration, music • Podcast: one for each station • Electronic postcard: storybook w/ images and descriptions, theme song. • Multimedia self-guided tour: Use PowerPoint with branching navigation – include sounds, narrations, pictures. • Photo album: with images, captions, sketches • “Being There” essay: Documenting and describing your experience at the Academy.
