  1. LTG Mary Legere Overseeing Global Operations

  2. LTG Mary Legere is the fourth female Three Star General in the history of the United States Army. Over a military career spanning more than thirty years she has risen through the ranks to become the Deputy Chief of Staff for Army Intelligence, a rank she was promoted to in April of 2012.

  3. She has been interested in Intelligence and National Security issues for most of her life, and is passionate about the Army and serving her country. “As the Army G2, I oversee the global operations of the Army’s 58,000-person intelligence Corps, the modernization of our intelligence systems, and the readiness of our formations across seven geographic theaters.” She is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she studied Political Science and Mass Communications, graduating in 1982. 4. A Distinguished Military Graduate, she was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army’s Military Intelligence Corps, and has served in a progression of leadership and intelligence positions around the world, including Germany, Bosnia, Korea and Iraq, commanding organizations at every echelon of the Army, and serving as the senior intelligence officer for the Department of Defense in support of joint operations in United States Forces Korea and Multi-National Forces Iraq.

  5. The term “intelligence,” in a military and political context, has a broad definition. The Dictionary of U.S. Military Terms for Joint Usage refers to Intelligence as the collection, evaluation and integration of information relating to foreign affairs, while other definitions call it the product of the collection, evaluation, collation and interpretation of information about the capabilities and objectives of other countries as they relate to a government’s development and execution of plans and policies.
