  1. Technology in Motion • The Play station Move was released September 2010 • Like the Wii remote, the Move uses an accelerometer to determine its rotation • Also includes a magnetometer which calibrates the Move with the earth’s magnetic field. • Used to stop the rumble feature from interfering with the accelerometer • Same technology used in the iPhone 4 • Designed for more ‘core’ gamers and used with games such as Killzone 3 and Heavy Rain

Kinect-ing with the Future • Released in November 2010, the Kinect made a breakthrough in motion technology • Uses 2 3D depth sensors and an RGB camera to pinpoint key joints on the players body • Facial recognition can sign in the player by standing in front of the Kinect sensor, and can read an expression on your face (Avatar Kinect) • The multi-array microphones can recognise voices and can be used no navigate menus and speak to in-game characters (Milo and Kate)

Project Milo – the real imaginary friend • A tech demo shown at E3 2009 with the name ‘Project Milo’ • Showed the potential of the Kinect by being able to have a conversation with a fictional character • The game could differentiate between emotions in your voice an face • Objects could be scanned and passed into the game

Onlive – a new way to game • Released to the UK on September 22nd 2011 • Onlive is gaming system revolved around streaming games from their servers • You can either pay a subscription, or pay per day for each game • An instant replay and theatre mode for any game and you can view live streams of people playing games
