  2. They are an important aspect of the Buddha’s teachings. • Lead to the end of suffering. • The Four Noble Truths are to the understanding of the Buddha’s teachings and to the realization of the goal of His teachings. What are the four noble truth

  3. “To live is to suffer” • Suffering includes the experiences of birth, old age, disease, death, sorrow, & frustration. • Caused by going apart from our loved ones, or not getting what we want. • Buddhists believe that happy moments and sufferings in life don’t last forever. The Noble Truth of Suffering (Dukkha)

  4. The Noble Truth of the Origins of the Suffering (Samudaya) • “The cause of sufferings is negative desire” • Suffering has its origins in craving selfish • desires, which results in ignorance and • or delusion. • Most desired possessions cause the most harm. • When needs are met, one should live their life without becoming greedy.

The Noble Truth of the Extinction of the Suffering: (Nirodha) “Goal of Buddhism is to end suffering” Cutting of greed means changing views, and living a natural and a more peaceful life Person attaining nirvana is in a blissful, happy, content state, where nothing causes physical or psychological stress. Expresses the idea that suffering can be ended by attaining dispassion

  6. “Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds” To end suffering, one must adopt Middle Way by following Noble Eightfold Path. Adopting this path is the Buddhist way of living life (a life of self-improvements) For some people, the Noble Eightfold Path is a blueprint for happier life  The Noble Truth of the Extinction of the Suffering: (Magga)
