DEMOGRAPHIC PRESSURES • Fastest growing population in England • likely to be 9m by 2020 and 10m by 2030 • Proportion of over 65s growing disproportionately • Fastest growing school age population and a 13% rise in 0-15 year olds by 2020 • Over a third of all of England’s short term residents • The most ethnically diverse part of England

  13. LONDON LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN 2020 Potential for greater independence? More explicit settlement about pan-London/sub-regional/local and sub-local? Integrated leadership of a range of local public services? Consensus about public expectations of services and the roles of national and local state and citizens?
