  1. Marches and DancesExtended Learning Project HW The deadline for this homework project will be the your first Music lesson after the Easter Holidays. This is an individual activity that you may complete over a half term and your class teacher will ask you to show them your progress at certain times during the half term. You can present your work in any format you want; this could be a PowerPoint Presentation, an information leaflet, movie and can be produced on using a computer or handwritten/drawn. It is your decision. Your project must be chosen from one of the 4 titles below and must include all the information provided on the next slide. There are some handy hints on the 3rd slide. • Classical Dances: The Waltz and the Polka • Latin American Dances: Salsa, the Tango and the Rumba • Jazz Dances: The Jive, the Charleston and the Jitterbug • Marches: Marching Bands and Music for the Army

Your extended learning project must contain the following information: A brief outline of the style you have chosen for your project (where it was popular and where the music would have been performed) A description of when your style of music was popular What the main characteristics of each of dances/march were including how many beats in a bar, the tempo, the instruments that would have been used to play it (you could include some pictures here) etc A profile a composer who is famous for writing or performing your chosen style of music Some pictures or musical examples of the music you are researching Any other interesting facts that you come across in your research
