Has FDCI application and associated documents been submitted by the potential faculty member? No Decision 5 Yes The unit reviews documents, initiates contract & forwards to Oversight Committee for approval. Action 5 Has the OC received FDCI documentation and recommendation from a unit planning to use the FDCI program? OC should wait to receive FDCI documentation from unit. No Decision 6 Yes OC examines and forwards recommendation to President for approval or non-approval of funding. Action 6

Option 1: Candidate not funded; back to “Decision 3” (If unapproved twice, Option 2 is unavailable.) Option 2: Unit may submit additional documentation to the OC in an attempt to gain reversal of the President’s decision. Back to “Action 5.” No Decision 7 Yes Unit makes funding request to Office of the President based upon fiscal expectations out in contract Action 7

Anticipated Actions/Results: The unit tracks potential faculty member’s progress at the terminal degree institution and establishes a partnership relationship with the institution to help ensure favorable development experiences of the candidate while pursuing his/her degree. The unit assigns a mentor to conduct both mentoring and arranged unit meetings with the potential faculty throughout the terminal degree pursuit to help ensure support needed by the potential faculty member and readily establish unit relationships prior to the faculty member’s onboarding after degree completion. Data resulting from usage of the FDCI will be profiled with those of other campus-wide diversity initiatives. Units will use FDCI program success for accreditation support.
