What happens to your eardrum when you hear a loud sound? • If the amplitude of the sound wave is large enough, the pressure tears part of the ear drum away from the end of the ear canal. • Without a connnected ear drum, sound vibrations are not transmitted to the cochlea, and a person is deaf until the ear drum heals.

Why is global warming such a controversial issue? • One fact is NOT controversial: The amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere has increased over time One thing IS controversial: Has carbon dioxide in the atmosphere led to increased temperature or is it just a natural oscillation in Earth’s climate? Is this a linear increase or just part of a LONG PERIOD OSCILLATION?
