  3. Define consumerism. What were some of the products people were buying? Why did so many Americans want them? Consumerism is a social and economic order that is based on the systematic creation and fostering of a desire to purchase goods and services in ever greater amounts. Products-Cars, radios, and televisions,vacums Refrigeration exc. Why-New technology

  4. How did assembly line contribute to consumerism? Faster production More goods Put people out of work The 1st time in century that factory emploment decreased

  5. How did american’s pay for new things they were buying? How did this change from buying habits in early 1920's? Credit They could now buy ANYTHING even if they didn't have the money for it!

  6. Where did the buy the products? How was it different then before? Chain stores-lower prices, moer choices, better reliabilty Difference-Instead of single stringed stores

  7. What revolutionized advertising in 1920’s? What was the need for so much advertising?  Credit consumer demand Why was there so much need? TO SELL PRODUCTS!

  8. What's mass media? What types were used to get consumers to buy? Mass media refers collectively to all media technologies which are intended to reach a large audience via mass communication Types-Newspapers, radio stations, billboards, and national magazines.

  9. What’s the impact of the new ways of buying/selling products? People could buy more Leisure time Standard of living was easier Higher income More production Faster purchasing(credit) Teen models style chages  (flappers)
