  2. Goals for this session: • Overview of planning timeline and conference logistics • Successes and lessons learned from year one • Changes planned for year two • Discussion on how this could be implemented in other departments or at other schools.

  3. What came before • 10- 15 1-hour individual information sessions • Average of 15 students • Occurring between early September- late October • Vastly different offer timelines

  4. Time for CHANGE! • 1 day-long conference • Ultimately 7 companies participated • The biggest success: • Students Registered: 160 • Students Attended: 125 • Almost all partners who attended doubled their hire rates • This also had a lot to do with their strategies after the conference

Schedule: 7:30a – 9:00: Student registration 8:00 – 9:00: Breakfast- Keynote address by Shelley Huff, VP Home and Apparel Walmart.com Rotation 1 9:00a – 9:30: Presentations Round 1 9:40a – 10:10: Presentations Round 2 10:20a – 10:50: Presentations Round 3 11:00a – 11:30: Presentations Round 4 11:40a – 12:30: Lunch- Keynote address by Rachel Mushahwar, Head of Global Retail Enabling for Retail, Hospitality, Consumer Packaged Goods Internet of Things, Intel 12:30 – 1:00: Student Club Fair and Networking Opportunity (student business card pickup) Rotation 2 1:00 – 1:30: Presentations Round 1 1:40 – 2:10: Presentations Round 2 2:20a – 2:50: Presentations Round 3 5:00 – 6:30: Networking reception with all companies in McClelland Park atrium

  6. Getting Students There • Business cards • Faculty support • Free meals • Early access to employers • Comfortable environment

  7. Partner Participation • Began reaching out almost 10 months beforehand • Mixed feedback so we had to be flexible

  8. Lessons Learned & Adaptations for the Future • Long day • Consistency in presentations • AV Issues • Motivate students in a new way
